Travel Like a Celebrity

9 March 2018

These travel hacks come straight from the world’s most well-travelled people: celebrities. With schedules like theirs, some celebrities rack up more hours of travel in a month than some of us do in a year, and just because you can’t afford to travel like a celebrity, doesn’t mean that you can’t feel like one.

Packing Pros
In all fairness, we know that celebs probably don’t pack their own bags… but here are some packing tips from those that have alluded to doing it (pre-spotlight days, maybe?). One of the popular suggestions to ensure you’re not left without an outfit if your luggage gets lost is to make sure you pack one extra outfit and some fresh, ahem, undergarments in your carry-on luggage. Keep all of your liquids (which are hopefully in travel-friendly sizes) in a closed container so that there’s no spillage, and make sure you’ve got a small toiletry bag in your carry-on luggage so you can freshen up when you land at your destination.

What to do While Waiting
Seeing as, in all likelihood, you won’t be climbing aboard a private jet with minimal time spent waiting on the airstrip, you need to be prepared to stay entertained while you wait. Download some TV shows or movies from your favourite streaming site and you’ll be more than entertained while you wait. You could also try things the old-fashioned way and read a book. However, if you’re embracing your true-celebrity you know the best way to go would be the most expensive, so an iPad or Kindle would probably be the best bet when it comes to keeping yourself entertained (unless of course you’re working on a vlog using only the latest in recording equipment).

Time for a Face-Mask
Many celebrities, even the likes of Chrissy Teigen, sport face-masks in the air. All you need to do is bring with a nice travel-safe face-mask and some make-up wipes and you’ll be set: make sure you wipe your face before applying the mask, then leave it on for the required amount of time before wiping it off with a make-up wipe. The air on planes is the absolute worst for your skin and leaves it feeling so dry, plus between the exams, studying and jobs we keep to pay for these trips many of us are so busy back on land we hardly have the time for a face-mask (besides, after a mask and a bit of moisturiser when you arrive at your destination you’ll be glowing). Bonus tip: pack in some saline solution nose-spray to ensure your nose doesn’t dry up while you’re 1000s of kilometres in the air (you’ll thank us).

Keeping Comfortable
Eva Longoria swears by her travel pillow, and you should too. If it’s a long-haul flight, take along a comfortable travel pillow and don’t worry about dressing up too much (have you seen the footage of celebs when they arrive at an airport? It’s all sweatpants and leggings with over-sized sunglasses).

Beat the Post-Holiday Blues
Do this the only way a celebrity would: post about it on Instagram! A lot of celebs don’t post live updates (because stalkers) and so they flood their followers’ feeds after their trip, and there’s no reason you shouldn’t do the same!
